On a cruise ship, you can stay as busy or as idle as you wish – it’s entirely up to you. On different days, you may decide to do a little of both!

When you’re ready to hit the ground running, you’ll find plenty to keep you occupied. For starters, there are loads of shops on board, offering a multitude of different items, including clothing, books, jewelry, and much more, all duty-free. All you’ll need for most of your purchases is your ‘sail and sign’ or equivalent type card. Don’t forget while you’re in the shopping mood, to go by the Photo Shop and check out those photos you’ve been getting taken over the course of the trip. The great thing about this is, you don’t have to buy any of these unless you want to…but it’s still nice to look at all of them!

If you’re feeling lucky, the ship’s casino stands ready. Try your hand at everything from slot machines to card tables.

There are also various bars/dance clubs scattered around the ship. They come in an array of flavors – high-energy dance, piano bars, you name it. Just don’t forget – if you have a day at port the next day, make the most of it by being back to your stateroom early the night before. Remember: you’re only in port for a few hours -- get an early start to make the most of it. Of course, if the next day is a day at sea, you’re free to dance the night away.

There will likely also be several other organized activities going on throughout your trip, such as scavenger hunts, art auctions, and others. Check your cruise information guide to find out more.

Of course, don’t forget the shows in the theater every night! Here, you’ll see everything from Broadway-type shows, to comedians, to musicians. You’ll be amazed at some of the extensive sets you’ll see on stage. Just another free perk of being a part-time sailor.

Again, don’t feel obligated to do all of these, or any of these. This is your vacation, make it as slow or busy as you like. But if you like a fast pace, you’ll find more than you’re able to keep up with, going on around the ship.
